Vasemmistopuolueiden yhteenynnätty kannatus on viimeisimmän gallupin mukaan likimain samoissa kuin yksistään kokoomuksen. Miten puolueet tähän vastaavat?
Demarit asettavat presidentinvaaliehdokkaakseen puolueensa oikeistosiiven laajasti vihatun Paavo Lipposen, istuen samaan aikaan apupuolueena porvarivetoisessa hallituksessa.
Vasemmistoliitto näprää kulttuuri- ja liikenneasioiden parissa tehden isommat talouspoliittiset aloitteensa lähinnä lehtien palstoilla. Puolueen puheenjohtaja, kulttuuriministeri Paavo Arhinmäellä olisi ollut monta pitkää viikkoa budjettiriihessä esittää aloitteensa solidaarisuusverosta. Sen sijaan kuin paraskin oppositiopuolueen puheenjohtaja hän päätti antaa aloitteen kypsyä yli riihen.
Eduskunnan ulkopuolinen laitavasemmisto, Suomen kommunistinen puolue, on keskittynyt näkymään lähinnä eduskuntatalon edustalla suloisen kotikutoisella ja vaikutusarvoltaan nollassa pyörivän Occupy-mörskäkylän kituvan kamiinan äärellä.
Ikäänkuin tämä kaikki olisi suunniteltua vasemmiston alasajoa. Muualla maailmassa vasemmisto on nousussa – jopa jenkkinuoriso on uusimman tutkimuksen mukaan suopea sosialismille. Meillä tuntuu riittävän se, että sosiaaliturva nousee ”historialliset” 25 euroa, kun samaan aikaan jo suhteessa ruuan ja polttoaineen hinnan nousu deletoi tämän historian. Maata johtaa kylmä ja kasvoton porvaristo, naureskellen marionettivasemmistonsa naiiviutta. Jopa Helsingin Sanomat on tunnustanut sen tosiseikan, että elämme jälleen luokkayhteiskunnassa, jossa tuloerot kasvavat jyrkästi. Kysyn edelleen: mitä tekee vasemmisto?
Näkyy lähenevissä presidentinvaaleissa? Jo mainittu Paavo Lipponen sätkii omien sanojensa mukaan vastavirtaan puolustaen vahvaa liittovaltio-EU:ta. Miltei ilman ehdokasta jääneen vasemmistoliiton vastentahtoisena ehdokkaana hyörii sen nuori Paavo Arhinmäki. Kuka oikeasti uskoo näiden kummankaan nousevan toiselle kierrokselle?
No sitähän minäkin. On siis luovuttava aatteesta ja etsittävä vähiten huono ehdokas porvaririntamasta. Iän myötä humaanimmaksi muuttuva, Nato- ja EU-vastaisen linjansa pitävä Paavo Väyrynen on nousemassa vaalien yllättäjäksi. Näissä vaaleissa nimittäin todennäköisintä on, että toisella kierroksella vastakkain ovat kokoomuksen Sauli Niinistö ja keskustan Väyrynen. Presidentinvaaliemme yksi huomionarvoisin piirre on ollut se, ettei ennakkosuosikki ole tullut ensimmäisenä maaliin.
Vasemmisto on päästänyt tilanteen siis jo niin pitkälle, että on tingittävä tavoitteistamme ja arvoistamme. On tunnustettava se tosiasia, että vaalien toisella kierroksella taistelevat sekä kova eurooppalainen Nato- ja rahavalta että Suomen itsenäisyyden puolesta puhuva, sen kansalaisia varmasti vilpittömästi puolustava Paavo Väyrynen. Kaikkien, jotka jaksavat äänestää, on ryhmittäydyttävä puolustamaan kansanvaltaa jo ensimmäisellä kierroksella. Kyse ei ole leikistä vaan ihan oikeista vaaleista, jotka linjaavat suuresti seuraavan kuuden vuoden ulkopolitiikkaa.
